Lighting Installation in Westworth Village
We install ceiling fixtures, recessed lights, fans, under-cabinet strips and outdoor lights. Each one goes on a box rated for its weight, on a circuit that can carry it, with the right parts for damp or insulated spots. You get light that works and wiring that holds up.
More Than Hanging a Fixture
A light fixture looks simple. The trouble is usually behind it. An old box that can't hold a fan. No ground wire. A can light buried in insulation that it was never rated to touch. We look at all of that before the new light goes up.
Some lighting jobs need a permit and some don't. Swapping one fixture for another on the same box often doesn't. Adding new lights, new switches or a new circuit usually does. We tell you which one your job is, pull the permit when the local jurisdiction requires it, and set up the inspection.
If we open a box and find a wiring problem that needs more than a lighting fix, we show you and explain it. Bigger issues may belong under electrical repair or code corrections, and we'll say so plainly.
What Our Lighting Work Covers
Ceiling fixtures and chandeliers
We swap or add fixtures and check that the box is secure and rated for the weight. Heavy chandeliers get proper support, not just a couple of drywall screws.
Recessed lights
We lay out the spacing, cut clean openings and use housings rated for insulation contact where the ceiling is insulated. Slim LED wafers work well where attic access is tight.
Ceiling fans
A fan shakes and pulls on its box in ways a light never does. We install a fan-rated box or brace before the fan goes up.
Outdoor and porch lighting
Fixtures outside need a wet or damp location rating, a sealed box and a good cover. We also put in motion and dusk-to-dawn lights for driveways, back doors and yards.
Switches, dimmers and three-way controls
We add switches where you actually walk in, and three-way control for stairs and long halls. Dimmers are matched to LED bulbs so you don't get flicker or a buzzing hum.
Under-cabinet and accent lights
Kitchen and closet lighting gets its own clean feed and a switch you can reach, not an extension cord hidden behind the toaster.
Signs Your Lighting Needs Work
Lights flicker or dim
A loose connection, a worn switch or an old dimmer that doesn't like LEDs can cause it. Loose connections get hot, so it's worth a look.
A fixture or fan wobbles
The box may be loose or not rated for the load. A fan that shakes can work itself free over time.
Fixtures feel hot or bulbs burn out fast
Too much wattage in a closed fixture, or heat trapped in an insulated ceiling, wears out sockets and wire insulation.
Dark rooms, stairs or entries
If you're crossing a dark room to find a lamp, a switched ceiling light or a three-way switch fixes that for good.
Rusty or cracked outdoor fixtures
Texas sun and storms are hard on outdoor lights. Water inside a fixture can trip breakers and corrode the wiring behind it.
How a Lighting Job Goes
- 1
Talk it over by phone
You tell us what you want lit and where. We ask a few questions about the room, the ceiling and the fixtures you have picked or still need.
- 2
Look before we cut
On the visit we check the boxes, the circuit, the switch locations and the attic access. You get a written scope and price before any work starts, and we tell you whether the job will need an inspection.
- 3
Install and test
We cover floors and furniture under the work area. The power is shut off at the breaker, every light is mounted and connected, and each switch and dimmer is tested before we call it done.
- 4
Clean up and close out
We patch our access holes where we can, haul off packaging and old fixtures, and walk you through the controls. If an inspection is required, we schedule it and meet the inspector.
What Moves the Price
Every lighting job is priced after we see it. The fixture you choose matters less than what it takes to get power to it safely. Here is what changes the number.
- New wiring or existing box
- Swapping a fixture on a good box is quick. Running new cable to a spot with no light costs more, more so through finished walls.
- Attic and ceiling access
- Open attic space above the room makes recessed lights and new runs easier. Second-floor ceilings or tight attics take more time.
- Number of lights and switches
- Six recessed lights on one switch is one job. Adding dimmers, three-way switches or separate zones adds parts and labor.
- Condition of old wiring
- Brittle insulation, no ground wire or overloaded boxes have to be dealt with before a new fixture goes on them.
- Permits and inspection
- When the work needs one, the fee and the inspection visit are part of the job. We list them on the estimate so they aren't a surprise.
Lighting Installation Questions

Do I need a permit to put in new lights?
It depends on the work. Replacing a fixture on an existing box usually doesn't. New lights, new switch locations or a new circuit often do. We tell you which applies and handle the paperwork and inspection when the local jurisdiction requires it.
Can you hang a ceiling fan where my light is now?
Often, yes. Most light boxes are not rated for a fan, so we swap in a fan-rated box or add a brace between the joists. If the room needs separate fan and light switches, we can add that too.
Can I supply my own fixtures?
Yes. Have them on site for the visit if you can. We check that they're rated for the spot, like damp-rated for a covered porch or bathroom, and tell you before install if one isn't a good fit.
Why do my LED lights flicker on the dimmer?
Most older dimmers were made for incandescent bulbs. LEDs draw so little power that those dimmers can't control them smoothly. We match the dimmer to the bulbs so they dim evenly and stay quiet.
How long does recessed lighting take?
A single room with good attic access is often done in a day. Larger layouts, multiple switch zones or ceilings with no attic above can run longer. We give you the time estimate along with the price.
Do you work outside Westworth Village?
Yes. We also install lighting in River Oaks, White Settlement, Fort Worth and other nearby towns. Ask when you call and we'll let you know.
